"Green" Custom Homes

Environmentally-Friendly Homes from Ilderton Contractors

Owning an environmentally friendly house doesn’t mean making sacrifices. In fact, your custom green home will be the most high-performance, durable and resource-efficient home you can buy. The operating costs are below average and low maintenance is another green-structure advantage, but it is also important to note that you do not have to sacrifice comfort or appearance in the name of sustainability. Typically, your sustainable home building project will provide a more healthy living environment, conservation of resources and energy, improved air and water quality and greater durability.

We are trained and qualified to build the custom home of your dreams that also meets the requirements of LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). We are the first builder in the Charleston area to receive the Gold certification from the U.S. Green Building Council.

Our sustainable house at 764 Gate Post Drive in Mount Pleasant is the first single-family residence in the Charleston area to be LEED certified. You may read more about this home in the May 30, 2009 edition of the Charleston Post and Courier.

LEED is a voluntary rating system for high-performance, sustainable buildings. Developed by the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC), LEED emphasizes state-of-the-art strategies for sustainable site development, water savings, energy efficiency, materials and resources selection, and indoor environmental quality. You can get additional information on the USGBC and the LEED program at the U.S. Green Building Council website.

We are also an affiliate of EverGreen Concepts, an organization dedicated to being the best resource for green home improvement and new construction. You may learn more about them by visiting their website.
